The Potter's House to locate in Woodhaven
Mar 11, 2010Pastor Derick Faison, associate pastor of The Potter’s House of Dallas, and his wife Tanya Faison announced at a recent WCD meeting the Potter’s House purchase of the former Kroger Store shopping area on Woodhaven Blvd. Pastor Faison serves as director of Christian education and ministerial affairs for The Potter’s House, and his wife Tanya shares the call to ministry. They will be actively involved with the development of a Potter’s House campus at its new location on Woodhaven Blvd.
The church became interested in establishing a presence in the greater Woodhaven area as one of its Dallas ministers lives in Eastern Hills. The Dallas congregation was informed in early February of the purchase of the Fort Worth property which includes the former Kroger Store, all buildings connected to it and the free standing Medical Building at the corner of Woodhaven Blvd. and Boca Raton Blvd. The church’s plans are to use most of the space for worship, its sanctuary and its children’s and adult programs. The church’s ministry will mirror that of its Dallas church. Not all of the programs at its Dallas campus will be duplicated in Fort Worth, and some of the space may be used for upscale retail. The church intends to become actively involved with the community redevelopment bringing a positive presence to Woodhaven. It wants to work with WCD and the Woodhaven community meets its needs.
The Potter’s House is currently leasing space at the Fort Worth Convention Center for its Sunday services. It is anxious to correct deficiencies at the Woodhaven Blvd. property and remodel both the interior and exterior prior to occupying the space which they anticipate to be in June, 2010. The church recently sent volunteers to Woodhaven and Eastern Hills to announce the establishment of the Fort Worth campus.
The Potter’s House is a nondenominational church, located in the southern sector of Dallas, Texas, founded in 1996. Since its founding, The Potter’s House has grown from 50 families to more than 30,000 members who step out in force, inspired and spiritually armed by Bishop T. D. Jakes to help others in their communities and across the world. The Potter’s House of Dallas has a $40M campus, totally paid for by its followers and includes the Clay Academy, private Christian college preparatory school. The Potter’s House congregation is actively involved with many community programs, including Habitat for Humanity, MEDC (Metroplex Economic Development Corporation and T.O.R.I. (Texas Offenders Re-entry Incentive), as well as church sponsored programs.
